🎓 From chemistry to creativity: the story of Shey, Creative Fragrance Director
Shey, the charismatic daughter of founder Mrs. Sadhana Singh, the heart and soul behind Savour and Aura.
She is the youngest perfumer in her family and takes the lead in the research and development of perfumery.
She has completed her BSc. in chemistry and perfumery education and taken training under her father, who has been in the perfume and flavour industry for the past 35 years.
Her Mentor is, her mother, Mrs Sadhana Singh, who gives her feedback on the notes, she holds the practicality and theoretical knowledge in botany, combined with her chemistry and perfume knowledge.
Her idea of curating the fragrance is to bring a touch of modernity while preserving tradition, which is reflected in the base notes.
Her idea is to create limited editions every year instead of curating a plethora of fragrances, which should be exclusively developed from exotic ingredients.
For Shey, the main source of inspiration for joining the family business and becoming a perfumer was her mother. In her childhood, she was always fascinated by family conversations about fragrances which made her curious to search and sneak into her Father’s library for a better understanding. That is why today she is playing the role of Creative Fragrance Director at Savour and Aura.
To curate a fragrance, Shey’s main inspiration is history, poetry and literary works connected with nature, an example is our Forest oud which has been derived from various nature-inspired writers.
Her fragrance translates into memory; she wants the identity of the person to be denoted by the set of fragrances they apply and to create a memory in people’s minds and places.
A beautiful movement, in itself, as a young enthusiast takes the perfume industry forward in India.
